Homework for Monday, July 8

Hi everybody,

It's been a while since I've posted to the blog!

Nonetheless, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED each and every discussion that you guys led last week. I think we all learned many great things and it was wonderful to have each of you make sure the audience were active participants. I look forward to our next "discussions" next week. More info to come later.

For tonight's homework, with about two and half weeks to go, I want you to think about the last five weeks of the IELP session. Upload a video discussing how you feel you have improved or not improved and what you still need to work on. Finish the video by telling us something that we may not know about you :).

Upload your video to your blog by Tuesday, July 9 at 6:00pm.

Discussion Leader Directions

Next week, each of you will lead a discussion on a topic that interests you. You will use the article that you posted on your blogs last week as the basis for this discussion or another article or video that you have found interesting.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you are the discussion leader:

·      How will you introduce the topic to your audience? Will you ask a question, show pictures, show a short video, etc.?

·      How will you report the main ideas to your audience? Will you write on the board? Will you show links? Will you use PowerPoint or some other software?

·      How will you conclude the discussion? Will you ask the audience a question or have them complete a short activity? Will you ask the audience for their opinion?

As the discussion leader, you are free to present the information in any way you feel appropriate. Remember that a discussion leader includes the audience in some way rather than just lecturing.

The computer and projector will be available to use as you lead the discussion.
